1999 Chevy Squad Truck

This 1999 Chevy Suburban was purchased locally at Kintzel Motors, painted red by Hatter’s Auto Body in Mollystown and lettered by Charlie Zimmerman of Birds Hill.  All the lighting, siren and radio equipment was installed by the firefighters to make this one versatile piece of equipment at a fraction of the cost of purchasing directly from a vendor.  This truck is mainly used as a personnel carrier for fire calls and training sessions at the fire school in Frackville.  It has a compliment of portable radio equipment and support material for traffic control and fire police calls.  Also, this is the response unit for medical assist calls and carries basic first aid equipment and an Automatic Defibrillating Device (AED), the only such unit in Pine Grove to have this vital machine besides the Pine Grove Ambulances.

1975 Kaiser 5-Ton Forest Fire Truck

This truck was generously donated to the fire company by the state Department of Conservation and Natural resources DCNR.  Our friends from the Ravine Fire Company No. 1, assisted in some of the mechanical configuration and painting.  This truck is mainly used for brush fires and can assist in high water situations like the flooding events we have had recently.  It is equipped with a 250 GPM pump, and 1500 gallons of water.  Additionally, it has a full wild fire compliment of rakes, axes, chain saws, leaf blowers and more than a thousand feet of 1 ½ of forestry hose.  This truck was put in service as a result of the formation of a Forest Fire Team whose membership includes firefighters from both the North End and Ravine Fire Companies.  The members are DCNR PA 130 certified and have been called to respond to large forest fires throughout the county and beyond.

1994 Seagrave 110 foot Ladder

This Ladder replaces the 1973 American LaFrance. Formally owed by the Woodbridge New Jersey Fire Department, it is one of only two 110 foot aerial ladders in Schuylkill County.  While the American Lafrance was what as known as a “light duty” ladder this one is known as a “heavy duty” ladder.  It has a 500 pound tip load and can support 2 firemen while flowing 1000 gallons per minute from the pre-piped waterway anywhere from an angle of 30 degrees to full 80 degrees. Below 30 degrees to negative 3 degrees it can support 2 firemen OR flow 1000 gallons per minute of water.  This truck has a laptop computer with a haz mat program on it and GPS interface with mapping software as well as a 110 watt Kenwood Fire Radio.  The truck is fitted out with a full compliment of truck company hand tools, tarps, air monitoring and detection meter, and salvage and overhaul equipment as well as the obvious full compliment of ground ladders and fans for ventilation.  The main ladder was last certified on December 14, 2006.  Since this is the only ladder on the south west end of Schuylkill County it was intended to serve the Pine Grove and Tremont Areas (basically the Pine Grove Area School District).  This is just one more tool in our firefighting arsenal to compliment a well trained and well equipped fire department.

2000 E-One Cyclone II Fire Engine

The company was so very fortunate to receive a grant from FEMA to purchase this fire engine from Monticello Fire Department in Mississippi for $175,000.  The engine was transported to the E-One factory and additional items installed on it to make it conform to the standards the officers of this company wanted on a fire engine.  It has a 1250 GPM single stage pump, a 60 gallon foam tank, a 500 gallon booster water tank and a full compliment of pre-connected hose lines and nozzles (both fog and smooth bore) of various lengths and diameters as well as haz mat containment kit, decontamination kit, cribbing, basic vehicle rescue and first aid equipment including backboards for car accidents.  This fire engine replaced a 1976 Hahn that was well used but not yet retired.  A Beaverdale Fire Company in Northumberland County, PA had purchased it from us and it is still in service today.

1939 Ford Fire Engine

This engine represents the active fire fighting heritage of the North End Fire Company.  The Ford truck chassis was purchased across the street from the firehouse at Smith’s Garage a local Ford dealership.  It was shipped directly from Ford to the W. S. Darley plant in Illinois where the roof was cut off, a 500 GPM pump mounted to the front and a fire truck body to hold hoses, coats, boots and various appliances was built on the back.  Behind the seat is a 250 gallon booster water tank. This fire engine was in service from 1939 until 1976 when it was replaced by the Hahn.  Though it does not see active service regularly it is still maintained and inspected as well as equipped with spare hoses, nozzles and brush fire equipment and can respond if needed.  Generally, it is relegated to parade duty.

1988 Volvo White Tanker

This unit has a 2500 gallon water tank and a 450 PTO driven pump.  This is the third tanker placed in service by this company and the first that did not see service as a home heating fuel delivery truck.  In its former life this Volvo was an over road tractor truck, and the aluminum tank was salvaged off the old tanker.  The membership put the two together and came up with very affordable water hauler.  At the time this project was approved, the overwhelming feeling was that it was not feasible to spend any significant money to duplicate equipment that other fire companies already have.  Additionally, it was realistically noted that the function of a tanker truck was to haul pond water back and forth at large fires.  As a way to this means, the $10,000 this unit cost was very fitting for that type of job and it does that well.  Mechanically sound and able to haul a significant amount of water this has got to be the best in cost benefit the company has seen.
